2010 Preseason AA-Team (Defense)

Yesterday, 4th and Long introduced the AA (All-Arrest)-Team, today comes the defensive side of the ball.

After hours of research and checking criminal records, it appears there is a lot of talent on the defense.

Bert Reed (#83) already made the Preseason AA-Team, did Clemson's DeAndre McDaniel?

DL- Nathan Williams Ohio State- Accused of shop lifting, Williams was charged with a first degree misdemeanor, after walking out of a Dillard’s with three shirts valued at $80. Williams claimed that he took the shirts because a friend he was with would have gone to jail. (26 Tk, 8 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 1 FF)

DL- J.R. Sweezy North Carolina State- After being asked to get off an on-campus bus, an intoxicated Sweezy hit a 65 year-old bus driver, in anger. The loud and obnoxious Sweezy was charged with assault. (26 Tk, 3 sacks, 6.5 TFL)

DL- Adrian Clayborn Iowa- The All-Big 10 selection, followed in the footsteps of Sweezy, and assaulted another transportation worker. Clayborn was charged with disorderly conduct after punching a taxi cab driver in Iowa City. (70 Tk, 20 TFL, 11.5 sacks, 4 FF)

DL- Clifton Geathers South Carolina- Geathers probably had the best mugshot of them all. Apparently Geathers got into a bathroom brawl at a night club and was faced with three different charges. (41 Tk, 3 sacks, 8.5 TFL, 2 FF)

LB- Scott Lutrus UCONN- Lutrus and his brother got involved with the police at an off-campus apartment resulting in a charge of interfering with the police. The leading tackler two years ago, Lutrus is considered an NFL prospect. (69 Tk, 3.5 sacks, 5.5 TFL)

LB- Gary Tinsley Minnesota- Two felonies and three misdemeanors were good enough to land Tinsley on the list. Tinsley was caught driving the wrong way on his moped by police and then ran from officers before finally being arrested. (21 Tk, 1 sack, 2.5 TFL)

DB/LB- DeAndre McDaniel Clemson- Charged with aggravated assault, McDaniel threw a comforter over his girlfriends head and began to strangle her after a heated argument between the two in his apartment. Now two years later McDaniel is considered a top draft prospect. (98 Tk, 8 int, 2 sacks, 1 FF)

DB- Janoris Jenkins Florida- Jenkins a Freshman All-American, got involved in a bar fight in Gainesville with five other individuals. After police told him to stop, Jenkins ran and was then tased by officers. Charges are still pending for Jenkins, who claims he was trying to protect the chain he was wearing. (38 Tk, 2 int, 1 FF)

DB- DeQuan Bembry Marshall- Bembry and a teammate decided to resist leaving a bar as police officers tried to clear it out. In the process, Bembry and his teammate struck an officer resulting in a charge of assaulting an officer and public intoxication. (53 Tk, 3 int, 1 sack)

DB- Janzen Jackson Tennessee- Only a sophomore, Jackson along with two other teammates decided to attempt armed robbery at a Knoxville Pilot Station two days before a road game at Ole Miss. Tennessee went on to get blown out at Ole Miss, and Jackson was suspended until charges were dropped and played in the final two games. (37 Tk, 1 int, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 FR)

DB- Shareecce Wright Southern California- Wright was busted at a party away from Los Angeles, and was charged with resisting arrest. At the time Pete Carroll, USC’s then coach, decided not to punish Wright, who is expected to be a lock down corner this year. (2 Tk, 1 int, in one game in 2009)

KR/PR- D.J. Munroe Texas- Munroe was booked for a DUI after he was pulled over by officers nearby campus the week of the Kansas game. ( 33.56 kick return average, 2 TD’s)

Others considered:

T.J. Drakford CB Marshall ($15,000 bond after punching an officer), Michael Carter CB Minnesota (public intoxication, underage consumption), Courtney Stewart CB West Virginia (stolen property charges in Arizona), Kennard Banks CB Iowa State (possession of marijuana and marijuana seeds), Shaun Prater CB Iowa (DUI), Kikio Alonso LB Oregon (DUI)
